Welcome to Milan! Here is our daily pick of the best milongas this week — one for each evening, mixing the city centre with some easy day-trips to the surrounding towns. Most milongas require an Arci or ACSI card (annual fee around 5–10€) that you can get on the spot. Doors typically open between 9 and 10 PM.

A one-of-a-kind festival for tango and motorcycle lovers. Three days, two nights of accommodation in Piacenza, dance on the road. Previous editions hosted up to 42 motorbikes.

The Milongas — Monday to Sunday
A guide to Milan’s regular milongas. Hours vary — always check the organiser’s channels before going.
Monday
Biko
Milan’s most distinctive Monday milonga. Resident DJ Auslander blends traditional tango with nuevo and other styles in a way you won’t find anywhere else in the city. The atmosphere is informal, open, and younger than most Milan milongas — a good first stop if you want to feel the city’s contemporary tango scene. Not a codigos-strict environment.

Milonga Nueva
A relaxed Monday option in the northern suburbs, drawing dancers who appreciate both traditional and nuevo tango. The venue — a brewery — gives it an informal, unpretentious character. Good choice if you prefer a smaller, lower-pressure floor where both styles coexist without friction.
📍 Bresso is about 20 minutes from central Milan by public transport.
Tuesday
Il Martedì del Bellezza
One of Milan’s historic reference points. Arci Bellezza is a beautiful venue — elegant but informal — and the Tuesday milonga has been running long enough to have built a loyal and welcoming crowd. Suitable for all levels. If you’re visiting Milan and can only go to one midweek milonga, this is a strong choice. Occasional live music sets it apart.
Arci membership (tessera) usually required. Available at the door for a few euros.
Wednesday
Buena Onda — La Pratica
The weekly pratica of one of Milan’s largest and most organised tango schools. In the northern suburbs, but well worth the trip. Buena Onda runs a tight operation — good organisation, reliable scheduling, and a community that takes tango seriously. A pratica with real milonga energy.
📍 Cinisello Balsamo is reachable by metro + short bus or taxi from central Milan.
Caribe
A traditional milonga held at the Zotto Tango Academy — one of the most recognised names in Argentine tango in Italy. Proper milonga codes, good floor, attentive crowd. A reliable choice for experienced dancers who want a classic traditional environment.
Miguel Ángel Zotto is one of the most respected tango figures in Italy.
Thursday
La Milonga del Che
A historic, regular milonga with a loyal crowd of experienced dancers. The Corvetto area of Milan has its own character — working-class, genuine, no frills — and the milonga reflects that. High average level, regular attendees who know each other well. Visitors are welcome but will find a floor that takes the dance seriously.
Good choice for intermediate-to-advanced dancers looking for quality floors on a Thursday.
Milonga Ondanomala
A milonga celebrating its 10th anniversary — a real milestone for the Lombardia tango scene. Held at Eurotaverna, a restaurant/pizzeria with a large, air-conditioned event hall in Desio (about 25 km north of Milan). The music mixes traditional and nuevo, with the energy of the great orchestras filling the evening with joy and warm embraces. The atmosphere is genuinely convivial: dancers can have dinner before the milonga and chat in a relaxed setting before the music starts. Two dance floors share the same hall.
Tables for dinner + milonga. Reservations: 333.6865894. A friendly choice for a Thursday evening outside the city, especially for those who enjoy a mix of traditional and nuevo tandas.
Friday
Voy al Tangoy
The milonguero heartbeat of historic Milan. A small, tight floor, a small loyal crowd of regulars, and a deeply traditional atmosphere. This is where the old guard dances. If you appreciate close embrace, proper ronda, and the intimacy of a real milonga among people who have been dancing together for years — come here. Don’t dance wide.
Not the place for beginners or those unfamiliar with traditional floor codes. A gem for experienced milonguero dancers.
Che Bailarín
The flagship Friday milonga of the Zotto Academy and one of the best-known milongas in Milan. Well attended, well organised, and consistently good. If you’re asking locals “where should I go on a Friday?”, this is the answer you’ll most often get. Traditional codes apply, good floor, mixed international crowd.
One of the most reliable milongas in the city. Booking ahead can be useful on busy evenings.
Milonga de Buenos Aires
A neighbourhood milonga with an Argentine feel — informal, welcoming, open to all levels. Located in the outskirts, it draws a genuine mix of dancers without the pressure of the more established venues. A good option if you want a relaxed Friday evening without too much formality.
Milonga San Pugliese
Organised by a well-known DJ, this Friday milonga has built a reputation for good music and good vibes. Arci La Scighera is a popular cultural space in Milan — the milonga fits naturally into its character. High level, but with an energy that feels inclusive rather than competitive.
TangoBAR
A small, charming milonga inside the medieval village of Chiaravalle surrounded by Milan’s agricultural park. The setting alone is worth the trip — informal, welcoming, completely different from any urban venue. Traditional and nuevo styles both find space here.
📍 About 25 minutes from central Milan. Arrive early and explore the village.
Saturday
Milongut
A Saturday milonga with a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, organised by one of Milan’s most well-known DJs. Traditional in style, friendly in character — a good choice for visitors who want a classic milonga experience without the formality of some of the more established venues.
Pratic-ona de la Tarde — Buena Onda
Despite the name “pratica”, this is effectively a full milonga — well attended, excellent floor, and vibrant atmosphere. One of the most popular Saturday options in the Milan area. Buena Onda’s organisation is consistently reliable, and the energy here is noticeably higher than many alternatives.
📍 Cinisello Balsamo, north of Milan. Worth the trip for the floor quality and crowd alone.
La Mariposa
A traditional milonguero milonga with an atmosphere that matches its style — composed, respectful of codes, focused on the embrace. La Mariposa attracts dancers who take the milonguero style seriously. Not for everyone, but exactly right for those who know what they’re looking for.
Sunday
La Pratica del Bellezza
The historic pratica at Bellezza — a Milan institution. It starts with beginners and gradually shifts into a real milonga as the evening progresses. Almost everyone who dances tango in Milan has been here at some point. A rare space where newcomers and experienced dancers share the floor without judgment.
Starts earlier than the milonga. Ideal if you want to warm up or meet the local community informally.
La Pratilonga della Domenica — Zotto
The historic Sunday pratica at Zotto — a Milan institution and a must for any visiting dancer. It has the relaxed quality of a pratica but the level and attendance of a milonga. A genuine Milan tradition: dancers of all levels, a reliable floor, and the warm atmosphere of a Sunday afternoon well spent.
Pensalobien
Elegant, demanding, and consistently excellent. Pensalobien is Milan’s most refined Sunday milonga — a beautiful venue, high-level crowd, and an atmosphere that rewards those who dance well. Not recommended for beginners or those unfamiliar with traditional milonga codes.
Dress code applies. Traditional codigos strictly observed. Intermediate-to-advanced dancers recommended.
Café Dominguez
One of Milan’s most characterful venues: a bocce club transformed into a genuine milonga space. The contrast works perfectly — the unpretentious setting creates exactly the right atmosphere for tango. Very well attended, especially on special occasions. A good mix of salon and milonguero styles, welcoming crowd.
Don’t be put off by the bocce club setting. The floor and atmosphere are excellent.
La Práctica del Domingo — Tango Saronno
Despite its name, this is a warm and welcoming milonga — a real gathering point for the Milan area and the north. Saronno is easily reachable by train from Milan’s central station (about 30 minutes). Excellent organisation, friendly crowd, and an atmosphere that makes visitors feel immediately at home.
📍 Reachable by train from Milano Cadorna or Milano Centrale. One of the best Sunday options in the greater Milan area.
Sentimiento Gaucho
Home to what many consider the best dance floor in Milan — a beautiful ballroom space that gives tango the setting it deserves. The Sunday atmosphere is warm and welcoming. If floor quality matters to you (and it should), Sentimiento Gaucho belongs on your list.
The floor quality here is genuinely exceptional. Worth going for that alone.

What level do I need?
Most milongas welcome intermediate and above. Some have open floors for all levels — check the event description.
Do people speak English?
Yes, in most venues — especially at events with international guests.
What does it cost?
Typically 8–15€ entry, sometimes including a drink. Some require a membership card (tessera Arci/Acsi, ~3€/year — available on site).
What to wear?
Smart casual to elegant. Tango shoes recommended. No sneakers on the dance floor.
How to get there?
Milan has excellent public transport. Most venues are within 30 min from the centre by metro or tram.
Codigos?
Traditional codigos apply in most venues: cabeceo/mirada for invitation, ronda navigation. Some venues are more relaxed — the event description will say.
